press release: the new Tangente Sport

More than just a sporty makeover for a NOMOS classic: Beautiful and incredibly comfortable to wear, this neomatik watch with a bracelet is water-resistant to 1000 feet—and excels in grueling stress tests.

GLASHÜTTE, MARCH 2019. A shining icon: Tangente Sport, or to use its full name, Tangente Sport neomatik 42 date is the first NOMOS watch designed especially with a bracelet. Tangente Sport and its sibling, the classic model Tangente—a NOMOS bestseller for over 25 years that has often been dubbed a “Bauhaus watch”—share a lot of qualities: the straightforward case, the striking typography, and being the embodiment of “form follows function.”

This NOMOS timepiece is making more of a splash than any previous one—and notjust because of its 42-millimeter diameter. The movement, the NOMOS neomatik date caliber (DUW 6101), is protected from shocks and water by its reinforced case, sealing, sapphire crystal glass back, and crown protection. Thanks to the slender neomatik caliber, Tangente Sport can be considered a small but perfectly proportioned vault. The slender movement within saves ample space in height, meaning its extreme robustness is packed into a tight unit—as is its notable water resistance: 1000 feet, which is also noted on the dial.

Tangente Sport comes in two colorways: classic white silver-plated and marine black. The extra color details in the latter allude to the deep ocean. The amount of superluminova on the dial and hands has been increased in both varieties, which means it glows longer in the dark—or underwater.

The strap on this new watch is also robust and long-lasting: The long sought-after NOMOS bracelet, consisting of 145 individual parts screwed together by hand, comes with the specially developed NOMOS deployant clasp. “Beside robustness and durability, we also paid particular attention to comfort,” says Heike Ahrendt. “And we achieved this: The strap is fantastic to wear. We found this particularly important with a watch of this weight.” The bracelet wasn’t just added to this sporty classic, but rather developed along with the watch from the very beginning. This creates a very fresh and harmonious NOMOS look.

The Tangente Sport will be available at Ace Jewelers from May.

press release: Club gets sporty

A new Club—with a thirst for adventure: This large NOMOS watch is water resistant to 1000 feet, or 30 atm. Equipped with neomatik date caliber and a new bracelet, this watch is (not just) for sporty wrists.

GLASHÜTTE, MARCH 2019. This year, NOMOS Glashütte is making men happy with Club Sport, or to use its full name: Club Sport neomatik 42 date black—42 millimeters in diameter, innovative neomatik technology, just as innovative date, deep black dial. The striking digits, treated with superluminova for the best luminescence underwater, glow white. The dial is also inscribed with “1000 ft”—a reference to the watch’s diving capabilities, which of course also guarantees reliability on land.

This NOMOS timepiece is more robust than any before—and not just because of its 42-millimeter diameter. The movement, in-house caliber neomatik date (DUW 6101), is protected from shock, impact, and water by its extra-strong case, sealing, and sapphire crystal glass. Thanks to the slender neomatik caliber, the watch is like a small but perfectly proportioned vault. Its strength is packed into a tight unit, since the slender movement within saves ample space in height. Club Sport also ensures security with every detail: If the crown is not completely screwed in by the wearer, a red section of tube serves as a reminder.

The strap of the new watch is also particularly robust and long-lasting. The long sought- after NOMOS bracelet, consisting of 145 individual parts screwed together by hand, comes with the specially developed NOMOS deployant clasp. “Besides robustness and durability, we also paid particular attention to comfort,” says Heike Ahrendt. “And we achieved this: The strap is fantastic to wear. We found this particularly important with a watch of this weight.”

The Club Sport will be available at Ace Jewelers starting May.

press release: Tangente neomatik for Ärzte ohne Grenzen Deutschland

Bringing better times to many: NOMOS Glashütte continues supporting the work of Nobel Prize-winning organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières with new limited edition models.

GLASHÜTTE/BERLIN, FEBRUARY 2019. Whether in Cameroon, Indonesia, Yemen, or Mexico—millions of people worldwide need emergency aid. Doctors Without Borders provides assistance around the globe, with over 41,000 employees working in areas affected by conflict, epidemics, famines, and the consequences of flight and displacement.

Watchmaking company NOMOS Glashütte has long supported the efforts of the Nobel Prize-winning organization: to date, 8,000 watches have been produced to raise funds for emergency aid. This collaboration was scheduled to end in 2018—but both NOMOS and the German section of Doctors Without Borders (Ärzte ohne Grenzen) have decided to continue this worthwhile project and help further.

This time, the NOMOS classic is available as an automatic model in two sizes: Tangente neomatik and Tangente neomatik 39. Both are powered by the ultra-thin neomatik caliber DUW 3001, which measures just 3.2 millimeters in height and features an in-houseescapement: the renowned NOMOS swing system. A subtle “Ärzte ohne Grenzen”inscription at six o’clock on the dial and a larger engraving on the back pay tribute to theorganization. This elegant timepiece also sports a red twelve in both versions—since this is the color of Doctors Without Borders and of emergency aid. They also come with the new NOMOS bracelet, which is incredibly comfortable on the wrist.

Both versions are limited to just 250 pieces, with NOMOS Glashütte and its retailers sending 250 EUR from each limited edition Tangente sold directly to those in need. This sum could, for example, fund sustenance for a month for eleven children suffering from malnutrition, ten doses of anesthesia for severely injured individuals, and measles vaccinations for thousands of at-risk children.

“In epidemics and other emergency situations, we need to react quickly. Numerous donations by private individuals and companies are what allow us to do so,” says Florian Westphal, General Director of Ärzte ohne Grenzen. “We are very grateful to NOMOS Glashütte for its generous support. Valuable contributions of this kind allow us to work in approximately 70 countries worldwide, providing lifesaving medical assistance.” So, purchasing a NOMOS watch in support of Doctors Without Borders is not only an investment in a fine timepiece, but also a contribution to a meaningful cause.

press release: iF Design Award for Tangente Update

Tangente, the iconic timepiece from NOMOS Glashütte, secures yet another prize: Its newly innovated date ring is an “outstanding design achievement

GLASHÜTTE/BERLIN, FEBRUARY 2019. The iF Design Award is one of the most important design prizes in the world. This year in Hamburg, it was given to Tangente neomatik 41 Update from NOMOS Glashütte.

This new model is based on a classic that is now over 25 years old: Tangente. In 2018, Tangente received a new date ring. Placed on the outer edge of the dial, it displays the entire month at a glance. With this automatic watch developed in-house (design: Michael Paul), NOMOS Glashütte achieved something that happens very rarely in the watch industry: a technical as well as a design innovation.

Only shortly after its release, this is already the second international prize for TangenteUpdate: The same model was awarded the Challenge Watch Prize for its technical and 2/2watchmaking feats at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in November. This latest iF award is the fourth in a row for the Glashütte watchmaking company: Before Tangente Update, NOMOS models Minimatik (2016), Tangente neomatik midnight blue (2017), and Metro neomatik 39 silvercut (2018) also received awards.

press relase: NOMOS Update in dark platinum

Tangente Update from NOMOS Glashütte received high accolades in Geneva last November—and now the spotlight is once again on this innovative timepiece thanks to its brilliantly refined darker revamp.

The NOMOS Tangente neomatik update with new ruthenium dial

Glashütte/Berlin, January 2019. Following an outstanding end to 2018, NOMOS Glashütte presents a new version of its successful Tangente neomatik 41 Update model, featuring a dial refined with ruthenium, turning it elegantly dark. The innovative caliber technology and reengineered date display of this model recently won over the jury of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, the most important award in the watchmaking world.

The dashing new dial is enhanced with ruthenium, a member of the platinum group and a very rare element. Depending on the light conditions, the color shifts between dark gray and golden brown—with unwavering elegance. The date ring that circumscribes the dial bears two contrasting red markings that frame the current date, a design that is exclusive to NOMOS Glashütte.

The date shows what this caliber can do,” says NOMOS designer Michael Paul, 44, who gave the Tangente model its Update: “It gives you a sense of the immense watchmaking expertise that went into its construction.” With DUW 6101, the second neomatik movement from NOMOS Glashütte, the watchmaking company has set a groundbreaking new standard. And a very thin one at that, since the caliber measures just 3.6 mm in height. The quick-change date function can be easily set with a slight turn of the crown in either direction.

With a diameter of 41 millimeters, Tangente Update is a large watch, and particularly masculine in its new dial color. This impression is enhanced by a robust stainless steel case and a sapphire crystal back, which displays the richly decorated caliber at work within.

Tangente neomatik 41 Update ruthenium is available at select retailers from spring 2019.
