press release: small pleasures

NOMOS Glashütte presents duo: simple and elegant two-hand models with a prime caliber from Glashütte—watches for women that make wonderful gifts

GLASHÜTTE, MARCH 2019. Tangente, Orion, Ludwig, Tetra are the four classics that NOMOS Glashütte started with more than a quarter of a century ago. Now, there are new versions of these watches designed to embody the Bauhaus movement. Conceived for more delicate wrists, these models measure 33 millimeters in diameter (Tetra side length: 27 milli-meters). But this time they feature only two hands—hence “duo.” After all, sometimes it’s better to keep things simple. It goes without saying that these hand-wound watches contain a fine Glashütte caliber, meaning they are highly precise. Inside, Alpha.2 is at work: an adaptation of NOMOS’ most manufactured caliber.

The case of the four new watches is made of stainless steel, the dials are white silver-plated, as with other NOMOS classics. This silver case is complemented by golden hands, which makes this watch an ideal companion to jewelry. The mocha-brown typography is almost black, but softer, and the beige velour leather strap is also more delicate thanthe classic Shell Cordovan. A personalized engraving on the stainless steel back is the finishing touch—available on request.

R emoving the complication of the small seconds also means a reduction in price: Tangente, Ludwig, Tetra and Orion duo will make perfect presents, and are wonderful small pleasures from Glashütte. Available from April at Ace Jewelers.

press release: Handcrafted for the holidays

This holiday season, NOMOS Glashütte has two suggestions— one larger, one smaller—for a highly-precise gift that lasts a lifetime: beautiful new mechanical timepieces

GLASHÜTTE/BERLIN, OCTOBER 2018. One of these festive models measures 38 millimeters in diameter, while the other is just 33 millimeters across, making it suitable for smaller wrists. Both of these watches feature the same midnight blue dial with gold hands and indexes, and are handcrafted with precision and care by the skilled watchmakers of NOMOS Glashütte. While perfect for celebrating the most wonderful time of the year, the two models are also suitable for daily wear—and every season. Orion 38 midnight blue and Orion 33 midnight blue are the two newest members of the iconic Orion family of timepieces.

Orion is a classic model from NOMOS Glashütte. All watches in the Orion family feature domed sapphire crystal glass on both sides that gives them both invisible strength and 2/2 visible beauty. The case is elegantly curved and the lugs taper around the wrist for a seamless fit. Initially introduced in 1992, Orion was one of the first watches to be developed by NOMOS Glashütte and continues to be a success today

Now Orion is ready for the festivities to begin! Both new versions feature manual winding thanks to the Alpha caliber, the most frequently made in-house movement from NOMOS Glashütte—for excellent precision and value. The midnight blue dial is deeper than the starry winter sky, while the slim-line cases are stunningly slender, just like all watches in the NOMOS collection. The perfect pairing for one of the most elegant holiday seasons yet.

Both NOMOS watches are available from mid-November at select retailers [including Ace Jewelers, red.] and nomos-glashuette.com.

press release: time for green and blue

Another opportunity to shine for the celebrated date caliber: Orion olive gold and midnight blue join the NOMOS Update series

GLASHÜTTE/BERLIN, OCTOBER 2018

Just this spring, NOMOS Glashütte released its iconic Tangente, Ludwig, and Orion models with an entirely new caliber and integrated date function—and so the Update series was born. One of those revised icons, Orion, is poised for another variation. Joining the white silver-plated dial are two new color versions: an elegant midnight blue and olive gold, a subtle shade of green with a touch of golden warmth.

As one of the brand’s earliest models, which formed the first family of NOMOS Glashütte watches in 1992, Orion can rightfully stake its claim as a classic timepiece. The model was long available exclusively with manual winding, since only a very thin movement could be housed in its elegantly domed stainless steel case. With the Update series, which introduced a new neomatik date caliber (DUW 6101), the still super-slender Orion grew to a diameter of 41 millimeters. Winding occurs with the smallest movements of the wrist, allowing the date and time to be displayed automatically.

The convenient date function on the ultra-thin neomatik date caliber in Orion Update models is easy to adjust in either direction. The date window, created specifically for this model, completes the sleek design. Domed sapphire glass above and below adds invisible strength to this fine NOMOS watch. The dial and case of Orion are curved, while the lugs are tailored to fit the wrist.

Now, the iconic timepiece is available in green and blue—two new highlights in the Update series. But neither the color nor the size of this hand-assembled timepiece could ever detract from its core appeal, which is precise, timeless elegance. Whether in silver white, midnight blue or olive gold, Orion is always an understated companion that brings subtle, everyday elegance to wearers and their wrists.

Orion neomatik 41 date midnight blue and Orion neomatik 41 date olive gold will join the NOMOS Update series in October, when they will be available in stores and online at nomos-glashuette.com.

new: Orion neomatik 41 date Olive Gold & Mightnight Blue

NOMOS introduces two new color options for the Orion neomatik 41 date!

The NOMOS Orion neomatik 41 date was introduced at BaselWorld 2018 as part of a full series of watches powered by the new caliber DUW 6101 ‘Update’. Earlier today NOMOS added two new variations to the collection: the Olive Gold and the Midnight Blue.

NOMOS Orion neomatik 41 date Olive Gold

The NOMOS Orion neomatik 41 date Olive Gold features a dial in a subdued shade of green which is highlighted by the gold tones of the hands and indexes. The date disc is made to match the color of the dial; a thoughtful detail that will delight many purists for sure. As far as I know this is an entirely new color for NOMOS?

NOMOS neomatik 41 date Mightnight Blue

The NOMOS Orion neomatik 41 date Midnight Blue features a dial in the svelte midnight blue. The hands and indexes are of a silver tone, giving this version a colder appearance. Again, the date disc is made to match the tone of the dial.

weltweit: you asked us: NOMOS Orion as a dress watch by FratelloWatches

In ‘weltweit’ we keep track of interesting NOMOS articles posted around the web.

This week Gerard Nijenbrinks of FratelloWatches.com answered an interesting question posed by a reader: Is the Nomos Orion a good choice for a dress watch?

What do you think about the Nomos Orion, 35mm, as a good choice? Or the 38mm? Looks like it would be appropriate with either a black or brown leather band. Beyond the broader watch and size considerations, what do you think about the benefits/deficiencies as a dress watch of having the silver indexes and hands versus the gold and blue indexes and hands?
