The Ace x NOMOS Tangente 38 Amsterdam is a limited edition of 45 pieces (!) created for Ace Jewelers of Amsterdam, our long-standing supporters and partners. It is based on the template provided by the classic reference 164 Tangente 38, but various unique touches place it firmly in Ace’s signature Amsterdam-series.
The Amsterdam Series
With the Amsterdam series, Ace Jewelers uses some of NOMOS most emblematic models and sprinkles them with a healthy dose of Amsterdam oomph. The first was the Club Campus Amsterdam of 2018, which featured a dark base dial with red and silver touches as an hommage to the city shield of Amsterdam. Then came the Zürich Weltzeit Amsterdam. This featured the same colors -with the black dial being a first for the Weltzeit- and saw Berlin on the city disk replaced by Amsterdam in bold red capitals. For 2020, Ace Jewelers went back to basics, using what is arguably NOMOS’ most famous watch as a base for the third watch in the Amsterdam series.
The Ace x NOMOS Tangente 38 Amsterdam
As stated above, the Tangente 38 Amsterdam is based on the Tangente 38 164, which means it has a stainless steel case of 37.5mm with see-through case back, the latter providing a clear view of the hand-wound Alpha movement. But then comes Ace. Of course the colors again are those of the Amsterdam city shield. The base of the dial is a dark shade of anthracite. It is encircled by a contrasting silver-white minute track, a feature inspired by the popular 100 Jahre Bauhaus models. A pop of color comes in the form of a bright red seconds hand, and three Amsterdam crosses at 6:00.
