weltweit: Wempe drops NOMOS in response to Chronext & Chrono24 dealerships

In ‘weltweit’ we keep track of interesting NOMOS articles posted around the web.

Today it was announced that Wempe has dropped NOMOS from its line-up in response of the recent Chronext and Chrono24 dealerships.

We are convinced that we have made a significant contribution to the success of Nomos. The decision of Nomos founder Roland Schwertner to be the only watch brand to recognize the internet platforms Chronext and Chrono24 as an official partner was a great disappointment. We were completely surprised by this decision, because this procedure was not discussed in any way in advance with us. As a traditional family business, we have a different understanding of partnership. “The supply of previously non-licensed Internet platforms, which obtain their products mainly from the gray market, counteracts our marketing strategy,” says Kim-Eva Wempe.

While we usually don’t post our own views & opinions in Weltweit, this too interesting not to comment. Wempe must certainly be one of NOMOS biggest retailers and the partnership dates back the 1995. Wempe has done countless cool limited editions with them. To say it’s a firm statement would be a gross understatement!

At Minimatikal and Ace Jewelers our love for NOMOS hasn’t faded one bit – and we’ll be revealing something really cool soon!

In ‘weltweit’ we keep track of interesting NOMOS articles posted around the web.

September 13th the Arab Watch Club unveiled their special edition NOMOS ZĂŒrich Weltzeit on ArabWatchGuide.com.

I contacted my dear friend Yousef from Mansour Jewelers in Dubai and explained my idea to him: ” Youssef, I have a crazy idea and I want you to make it happen for us” – ” I want to redesign the Nomos Zurich watch in a mint green dial color that pops and is very noticeable to the wearer with a cities disk customized for each of the collectors hometown cities”. His first answer was ” Not sure this will fly with Nomos, but let me try to push for it and get back to you”

weltweit: you asked us: NOMOS Orion as a dress watch by FratelloWatches

In ‘weltweit’ we keep track of interesting NOMOS articles posted around the web.

This week Gerard Nijenbrinks of FratelloWatches.com answered an interesting question posed by a reader: Is the Nomos Orion a good choice for a dress watch?

What do you think about the Nomos Orion, 35mm, as a good choice? Or the 38mm? Looks like it would be appropriate with either a black or brown leather band. Beyond the broader watch and size considerations, what do you think about the benefits/deficiencies as a dress watch of having the silver indexes and hands versus the gold and blue indexes and hands?
