press release: Metro neomatik 41 update

The star of the show in Geneva: Metro neomatik 41 Update with the unique, patented NOMOS ring date that makes the entire month visible. The current date is framed by two markers in neon orange.

Setting the date is incredibly quick and easy—and is possible both forward and backward. This is thanks to in-house caliber DUW 6101 with automatic winding and a date function, which is also patented. DUW 6101 is equipped with a proprietary escapement, the groundbreaking NOMOS swing system.

Metro neomatik 41 Update is cosmopolitan, smart, with plenty of contemporary flair. As the version Metro Update, this watch also loves clear forms. The unique, patented NOMOS ring date in neon orange is a sign of new times to come: The iconic design of Metro nevertheless remains unmistakably Metro.

Back in October, Andrew Connor of Gear Patrol did an interview with Mark Braun, the designer of the critically acclaimed Metro.

I was asked to pitch some watch designs. It was like I could design whatever watch I liked. One was the Metro. Luckily it fit with the tastes of both the owner of the company (Roland Schwertner) and I… It’s not always like that, especially when you’re a freelance designer.

weltweit: HODINKEE introduces the Metro Chronometer

In ‘weltweit’ we try to keep track of NOMOS articles posted around the web.

Earlier today Hodinkee introduced the NOMOS Metro Chronometer Limited Edition For HODINKEE, a limited edition of 100 pieces.

NOMOS Metro Chronometer for Hodinkee

The German chronometer certification process is not the same as what goes on at COSC in Switzerland. First off, in Germany it is only complete watches that are tested, not lone movements. This means that what undergoes testing is the actual watch that ends up on your wrist, not an isolated movement that will then have a dial and case added later.
